Ten-year-old Elly Verkest is a first-generation Canadian born after the Second World War. Her father, Gaston, is Belgian and her mother, Mina, is Dutch. Kristin, I have read Marina's first book, it was very good. That was my first exposure to what goes on in Iran's Evin prison, and I've read a few books about it since then. I've been meaning to read Reading Lolita in Tehran, should do it soon.
