Social Justice Theme Read 2013
Rachel at Resistance is Futile is hosting the month long Social Justice Theme Reads this month. For this a group of bloggers will be posting reviews on books related to the many facets of Social Justice. For this event I plan to read:
A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park (about war in Sudan and the Lost Boys)
The Other Side of Paradise by Stacey-Ann Chin (about growing up gay in Jamaica)
The Road of Lost Innocence by Somaly Mam (about human trafficking in Southeast Asia)
If Social Justice is something that interests you, check out previous reviews I have done on books of this topic:
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot
Half the Sky by Nicholas Kristoff and Sheryl WuDunn
Something Fierce by Carmen Aguirre
They Fight Like Soliders, They Die Like Children by Romeo Dallaire
On A Dollar A Day by Christopher Greenslate
Little Princes by Conor Grennan
War Child by Emmanuel Jal
Same Kind of Different As Me by Denver Moore and Ron Hall
Global Soccer Mom by Shayne Moore
Outcasts United by Warren St. John
